1994 Kiss leaders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons join Anthrax onstage at the Hollywood Palladium for a version of the Kiss song “She,” which Anthrax covered on that year’sKiss My Ass tribute album.

1995 R.E.M. play their first show since drummer Bill Berry‘s brain surgery, in San Francisco.

1995 Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland is arrested after trying to buy drugs in a motel parking lot in Pasadena, California.

1996 Metallica‘s 1991 self-titled fifth album, a.k.a. “the black album,” is certified nine times platinum.

1997 Muzak announces that it’s adding four instrumental versions of Kiss songs to its playlist.

2001 The R.E.M. album Reveal is released.

2001 Tool releases its long-awaited Lateralus album.

2001 Weezer releases its self-titled third album, also known as “The Green Album.”

2002 Papa Roach frontman Coby Dick officially begins using his real name, Jacoby Shaddix.

2002 Ted Nugent offers his opinion of The Osbournes TV series to the New York Post, saying, “I think it’s an indictment to the soullessness of modern man that we get a kick out of witnessing a magnificent creature reduced to a blithering hopeless idiot.”

2003 Staind performs the first of four free concerts in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Chicago to celebrate the upcoming release of its third album, 14 Shades Of Grey.

2003 Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland reveals that he is the vocalist for the new project started by former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Matt Sorum, later named Velvet Revolver.

2007 Linkin Park releases its third full-length studio album, Minutes to Midnight.

2009 Green Day releases its eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown.

2013 Korn plays its first full concert since 2005 with founding guitarist Brian “Head” Welch back in the lineup, in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.
