METALLICA DONATES POLAR MUSIC PRIZE TO THREE CHARITIES
Metallica has donated its monetary award from the Polar Music Prize to three charities. Fifty percent of the prize, which was the Swedish equivalent of just over $130,000, went to the Stockholm City Mission, which supports the homeless. Twenty-five percent went to the World Childhood Foundation and the final 25 percent to the Afghanistan National Institute Of Music, also a recipient of this year’s Prize.
Metallica was awarded the prestigious Swedish prize last Thursday night (June 14th) at a ceremony in Stockholm, where drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo watched Ghost frontman Tobias Forge, along with members of Swedish metal act Candlemass and the duo Vargas & Lagola, honor the band with a performance of the Metallica classic “Enter Sandman.”

FRANCES BEAN COBAIN PUTS LOS ANGELES MANSION ON THE MARKET
Frances Bean Cobain has put her Los Angeles mansion on the market for $2.7 million, shortly after winning possession of it in her acrimonious divorce settlement with ex-husband Isaiah Silva. According to Variety, Cobain paid $1.8 million in 2011 for the Spanish Colonial in the Hollywood Hills, after inheriting 37 percent of the estate of her late father, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
The 3,357 square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bathroom home was built in 1930 and features a gated entrance, period tile, hardware, wrought iron, stained glass, a spacious living room and a central fireplace, while the kitchen is equipped with Viking appliances, a farmhouse sink and walk-in pantry. The garage, which is detached from the house, has been converted into a recording studio and screening room.
