1976 The Sex Pistols perform for the inmates at Chelmsford Prison in England.

1991 Use Your Illusion I and II by Guns N’ Roses are released.

1992 Hole releases its debut album, Pretty On The Inside.

1994 Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland marries longtime girlfriend Jannaina Castenada. They later divorce.

2002 Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt undergoes surgery on his wrist to combat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

2004 Velvet Revolver performs a surprise three-song acoustic set at Snitch, a new club opened by Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland and bassist Duff McKagan in New York City.

2006 Jack and Meg White of the White Stripes make their debut as animated characters on The Simpsons. The episode features Bart Simpson competing against Meg White in a “drum-off.”

2007 Three Days Grace‘s sophomore effort, One-X, is certified platinum in the U.S. for sales of more than one million copies.

2007 Marilyn Manson issues his own official brand of absinthe, called Mansinthe.

2008 Metallica‘s new album, Death Magnetic, debuts on the Billboard album chart at Number One with first-week sales of around 490,000 copies. The CD arrived in stores on the previous Friday, meaning that the band sold nearly half a million copies in just four days instead of the usual seven. The Number One arrival makes Metallica the only band to have five albums debut in the top spot, breaking a tie at four albums held by the BeatlesU2 and the Dave Matthews Band.
