1946 George Young (guitarist, the Easybeats; older brother of AC/DC‘s Angus & Malcolm Young) is born. He dies in October 2017.

1975 The Sex Pistols play their first live gig, which takes place at St. Martin’s School Of Art in London.

1992 The self-titled debut album from Rage Against The Machine is released.

1993 Pearl Jam‘s Vs. enters the Billboard album chart at Number One, followed by Rush‘s Counterparts, which enters the chart at Number Two.

1997 A Los Angeles judge denies a request by Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and his wife, actress Pamela Anderson Lee, to block Internet Entertainment Group (IEG) from offering free viewings of a video showing the couple having sex.

2003 Blink-182 kicks off its DollaBill club tour, for which fans only pay a dollar a ticket, in Boston.

2006 Guns N’ Roses cancels a show in Portland, Maine, claiming persecution by local fire officials over unspecified rules and regulations.

2014 AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is arrested by New Zealand police and charged with attempting to procure a murder, possession of the drugs methamphetamine and cannabis, and of threatening to kill.
