1999 Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is sentenced in Maryland to a year in jail after assaulting two motorists following a traffic accident. He ends up serving 3 1/2 months.
2001 Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman announce their separation.
2001 A female fan at a Rome concert by Marilyn Manson files a complaint with police claiming that she was forcefully thrown up on stage against her will by one of Manson’s bodyguards and then tried to leave the stage as Manson simulated sex with her. Manson is questioned by authorities but not arrested.
2002 Kiss performs five songs at a fashion show for clothing retailer Lane Bryant at Roseland in New York City.
2003 Secretary Of State General Colin Powell appears before the United Nations in New York City and presents evidence — later discredited — that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and is an imminent danger to the region, the U.S., and the world.
2004 Legendary alternative act Pixies announce that they’re reforming for their first shows in 11 years.
2007 Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler speaks at a rally at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., that’s held by The Peace Alliance, a group whose aim is the establishment of a United States Department Of Peace.
