2005 Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster wins the prize for Best Documentary at the IFP Independent Spirit Awards, held in Santa Monica, California.

2013 Stone Temple Pilots fire singer Scott Weiland, with the band issuing a terse statement saying, “Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.” Weiland responds with a statement in which he says, “Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out.”
