1976 Led Zeppelin‘s Presence hits Number One on the album chart.

1977 The Clash begin their first tour in London.

1993 Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain suffers a heroin overdose at a party.

1997 The Van Halen album Best Of Volume 1 is certified both gold and platinum.

2001 Pearl Jam releases its first full-length DVD, titled Touring Band 2000. The three-hour disc features 28 live songs filmed in various cities during the band’s 2000 U.S. tour.

2003 Metallica shoots a video for the song “St. Anger” on the grounds of California’s San Quentin State Prison, playing a one-hour set for the inmates after the shoot is finished.

2003 Kid Rock‘s Devil Without A Cause album is certified 11-times platinum.

2004 Radiohead headlines the first night of the fifth annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which sets a new attendance record over the two nights with 50,000 fans at the event.

2005 Newly public court papers indicate that Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington and his wife Samantha are splitting up after nine years of marriage.

2007 Rush releases its 18th studio album, and first in five years, Snakes & Arrows.

2008 Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger is sentenced to a one-year driving ban and a fine of $590 for drunk driving, stemming from an incident that occurred in 2006.

2009 No Doubt performs live for the first time in nearly five years on NBC’s Today show, followed the next night by their first proper concert in the same time frame in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

2015 Five Finger Death Punch abandons its performance after six songs at a show in Memphis after singer Ivan Moody has an onstage meltdown that leaves him wandering the stage alone.
