1946 Guitarist Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band is born. He dies in 1971.

1996 Dishwalla‘s album Pet Your Friends is certified gold.

2001 The U2 DVD Elevation 2001: U2 Live In Boston is released.

2003 Phil Spector is charged with one count of murder in the February 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion in Alhambra, California.

2003 Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke participates in a protest against U.S. President George W. Bush‘s visit to London.

2004 The Van Halen reunion tour with Sammy Hagar wraps up at the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheatre in Tucson, Arizona.

2005 U2 guitarist the Edge announces that he has joined forces with producer Bob Ezrin to create an initiative called Music Rising, aimed at providing instruments to musicians affected by Hurricane Quatrain on the Gulf Coast.

2006 Green Day announces that it has teamed up with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) for a new campaign called Move America Beyond Oil. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said in a statement, “People are sick of our oil addiction and feel like nobody is doing anything about it. The solutions are there, the support is there, but the leadership is not.”

2007 U2 issues a deluxe 20th anniversary edition of The Joshua Tree in four different formats, including a remastered single CD, a two-CD set, a box set containing two CDs and one DVD, and a two-platter vinyl package. The set contains new liner notes from the band, additional rare tracks, alternate takes and B-sides.

2008 Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and his then wife, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, have their first child, a baby boy named Bronx Mowgli Wentz.
