1992 A tribute concert to the late Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury is held at Wembley Stadium in London. The show, which features performances by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, U2 (via satellite link), and a set by the surviving members of Queen that includes guest vocalists Elton John, Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Annie Lennox, David Bowie,James Hetfield, and others, raises 10 million British pounds for AIDS charities.
1993 Stone Temple Pilots‘ debut album, Core, is certified gold.
