1968 Deep Purple plays its first-ever concert. The show takes place in Tastrup, Denmark.

1992 A tribute concert to the late Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury is held at Wembley Stadium in London. The show, which features performances by MetallicaGuns N’ RosesU2 (via satellite link), and a set by the surviving members of Queen that includes guest vocalists Elton JohnRobert PlantRoger DaltreyAnnie LennoxDavid Bowie,James Hetfield, and others, raises 10 million British pounds for AIDS charities.

1993 Stone Temple Pilots‘ debut album, Core, is certified gold.

2003 A public memorial for late Clash frontman Joe Strummer is held at The Tabernacle in London.

2004 Queens Of The Stone Age releases a limited-edition EP of B-sides and covers called Stone Age Complication.

2005 Just before Motley Crue takes the stage, fans Duane Trump and Michelle McGee are married on stage at the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida.

2005 Mudvayne‘s third album, Lost And Found, debuts on the Billboard 200 at Number Two, a career high for the group, with first-week sales of 152,000 copies. Meanwhile,Garbage‘s fourth disc, Bleed Like Me, debuts at Number Four after moving 75,000 copies.

2015 Jack White performs the first all-acoustic show of his career in Anchorage, Alaska, one of the five states he has not previously visited.
