1977, “Hotel California” by the Eagles hits Number One on the pop chart.

1991 A judge in Macon, Georgia, dismisses a wrongful death suit against Ozzy Osbourne after a local couple fails to prove their son was inspired to attempt suicide by Ozzy’s music.

1994 Verve, rather than face a lawsuit from American jazz label Verve Records, changes its name to The Verve.

2004 Kiss singer-bassist Gene Simmons makes his second appearance on the NBC emergency services drama Third Watch.

2004 Evanescence‘s major label debut, Fallen, passes the five million mark in record sales.

2005 System Of A Down slips the F-word into its performance on Saturday Night Live. Although the group’s first song, “B.Y.O.B.,” is muted numerous times, guitarist Daron Malakian screams an uncensored “F*** yeah!” near the end of the tune with the camera pointed directly at him. The world does not end.

2007 Linkin Park announces the lineup for the 2007 Projekt Revolution tour at a press conference in New York City. Featured acts on the two-stage bill include My Chemical RomanceTaking Back SundayH.I.M.Placebo and others.

2013 Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin is stopped for speeding and arrested by Hollywood police after they run his information and find two outstanding warrants for him stemming from previous incidents.

2014 Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl pops up unannounced in Nashville, Tennessee, to play an hour-long solo acoustic set for less than 100 people at the Bluebird Cafe.
