ROGER DALTREY: PETE TOWNSHEND SAVED HIS SOLO ALBUM

Roger Daltrey is already receiving raves for his just-released solo album As Long As I Have You — but he revealed to us that if not for Pete Townshend, he would’ve scrapped it. The sessions for the album stretch back a few years — with Daltrey originally considering the song “Certified Rose” for a Who project — and originally thought that some of the tunes could be worked up as a Who covers album to serve as a followup to 2006’s Endless Wire.

POISON’S RIKKI ROCKETT SAYS SEPARATE BUSES KEEPS THE PEACE

Poison drummer Rikki Rockett says the band is able to enjoy a summer on tour due to the simple fact that they’re no longer living on top of one another. Rockett, who along with the rest of Poison, is out on the road with Cheap Trick, told Long Island Pulse, “It’s more comfortable. Period. I really enjoy it. Man, we were all crammed together; we didn’t have much money. We didn’t start making money until the late-’80s, really. The first couple of records, you’re in debt. But the buses, the accommodations, how you roll. It’s better these days. We hit our 20th anniversary, and at 20 years, we said, ‘It’s time that we get separate buses. We’ve earned it.’ And this way, we won’t kill each other and can keep doing this for a long time (laughs). We have separate buses, so we get along just fine. (Laughs) The fact of the matter is we’re doing this because we love the band POISON. It’s our baby, so we all take turns taking care of it in different ways. We want to get along. We want to make it work. That doesn’t mean that we have to go to each other’s houses every day.”

NEW SLIPKNOT LYRICS CHRONICLE ‘HEAVY COUPLE OF YEARS’ FOR COREY TAYLOR

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor told Loudwire in a new interview that the lyrics he’s writing for the next Slipknot LP are perhaps his most personal yet. Taylor said, “It’s been a heavy couple of years for me personally. So I’m working out some things, personally for myself, which has been great. I’ve been able to grab hold of some of the depression that I’ve been fighting and formulate the way that I want to describe it. So some of these lyrics are, to me, some of the best I’ve ever written. It’s probably the most I’ve shared in years.”
