1999 U2‘s Bono is among the 35,000 or so people who form a human chain around a building in Cologne, Germany, where the G7 summit is being held. They call on the world leaders to cancel all outstanding debts owed by the world’s poorest countries.

2000 Cult singer Ian Astbury joins Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek onstage at the Whisky in Los Angeles for an impromptu set of Doors classics. They later become the Doors Of The 21st Century.

2001 311 releases its sixth album, titled From Chaos.

2001 Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro releases his first solo album, Trust No One.

2001 Stone Temple Pilots issues its fifth and, to date, final album, Shangri-La-Dee-Da.

2003 Radiohead‘s Hail To The Thief debuts at Number Three on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.

2007 The White Stripes release their sixth and final studio album, titled Icky Thump.

2013 Black Sabbath‘s new album 13, the first in 35 years to feature singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler, sells 155,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at Number One on the Billboard 200 album chart, giving the legendary heavy metal group its first chart-topper ever in America.
