1995 Pearl Jam cancels their U.S. tour because of an ongoing feud with Ticketmaster. They contend that the ticket giant holds a monopoly and charges fans too big of a surcharge on concert tickets.
1996 Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys arrives in Washington D.C. to speak at a briefing on human rights violations in Tibet.
2004 The first date of the 10th annual Vans Warped Tour, in Houston, Texas, is postponed due to excessive rain, thunder and lightning conditions. Good Charlotte, New Found Glory,Yellowcard,Simple Plan, and Coheed And Cambria are among the scheduled performers.
2008 Coldplay‘s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends debuts at Number One on the Billboard album chart, selling 721,000 copies in its first week of release and giving the U.K. group its second straight Number One debut. The week’s other rock debut, the Offspring‘s Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, sells 46,000 copies to debut at Number 10.
