1977 The Ramones release “Pinhead” as a single.

1988 A California appeals court upholds a lower court’s decision to dismiss a case against Ozzy Osbourne and CBS Records. In 1984 a teenager allegedly killed himself after listening to Ozzy’s “Suicide Solution.”

1991 Drummer Steven Adler sues his former bandmates in Guns N’ Roses, claiming that they pressured him into using heroin, and then they fired him when he went into a rehab program. He eventually settles out of court.

1991 The first Lollapalooza tour kicks off in Phoenix, Arizona, featuring Jane’s AddictionNine Inch NailsLiving ColourSiouxsie & the Banshees, the Butthole SurfersIce-Tand Body Count, and the Rollins Band.

1992 Temple Of The Dog‘s self-titled CD enters the album chart.

2001 Due to local fire regulations, Blink-182 is banned from using a flaming sign displaying the f-word at a concert in Detroit.

2002 Buckcherry officially announces its break-up, only to reform three years later.

2005 A star-studded crowd packs the Key Club in Los Angeles for the live debut of Satellite Party, the new band from ex-Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell. Attendees includeAudioslave guitarist Tom MorelloLimp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst, and No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale.

2006 Black Stone Cherry releases its self-titled debut album.

2006 Korn plays two songs acoustically on ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. It’s only the second unplugged performance by Korn ever and marks the band’s second national television appearance, following a 2005 spot on Saturday Night Live.

2007 The Smashing Pumpkins debut at Number Two on the Billboard album chart as the band’s first album in seven years, Zeitgeist, sells 145,000 copies in its first week of release.

2008 Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler is arrested in Hollywood and charged with possession of narcotics and being under the influence. Los Angeles police say that Adler was arrested after officers were called to a home where a man reportedly was creating a disturbance and refusing to leave.
