1980 A show by the Dead Kennedys is banned because of the group’s name.

1981 Former Samson singer Bruce Dickinson joins Iron Maiden.

1988 Judas Priest‘s 1984 album Defenders Of The Faith is certified platinum.

1990 The Real Thing by Faith No More is certified platinum.

2002 Disturbed‘s second album, Believe, debuts at Number One on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling just under 285,000 copies in its first week of release.

2003 Kiss singer-bassist Gene Simmons and singer-guitarist Paul Stanley are handed subpoenas before their show at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, Illinois, in conjunction with a case against their former business manager Jesse Hilsen, who fled to South Africa in 1994 and became a fugitive rather than pay $2 million or more to his former wife Ritain their divorce settlement.

2011 Metallica and Lou Reed release the full version of “The View,” the first single from their upcoming collaborative album Lulu.
