1906 Actor-comedian Lou Costello is born. He dies in 1959.
1923 Ed McMahon (former announcer, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny CarsonStar Search) is born. He dies in June 2009.
1978 The Six Million Dollar Man‘s final episode airs on ABC.
1978 Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt is shot and left partially paralyzed while walking down a street in Georgia, where he’s on trial for distributing obscene materials.
1981 Walter Cronkite gives his final newscast as the anchorman on The CBS Evening News With Walter Cronkite. After 19 years behind the desk, Cronkite is replaced by Dan Rather.
1987 Lethal Weapon, starring Danny Glover and Mel Gibson, opens in theatres nationwide.
1987 Licensed To Ill by the Beastie Boys becomes the first rap album to top the U.S. chart.
1992 Soundgarden‘s Badmotorfinger is certified gold.
2000 Three white New York City police officers are convicted of a cover-up in the brutal police station attack on Haitian immigrant Abner Louima.
2001 Just Push Play by Aerosmith is released.
2001 Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland releases the first album from his side project Big Dumb Face.
2005 Nickelback confirms that former 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair has officially joined the band, replacing Ryan Vikedal.
2005 The New York Times publishes a lengthy article reporting that after 11 years and $13 million in production costs, Chinese Democracy, the long-delayed new album fromGuns N’ Roses, is still nowhere near completion.
2006 System Of A Down announces that they will headline their fourth annual Souls benefit concert, on April 23rd in Los Angeles, to raise awareness of the Armenian genocide. But the band cancels the event only a few days later.
2007 Blues Traveler frontman John Popper is arrested after Washington State police clock his vehicle going 111 mph. Officers find a cache of weapons and a small amount of marijuana inside his black Mercedes SUV.

2007 Former White House aide I. Lewis Libby, Jr. is found guilty on four of five counts of perjury and obstruction of justice in the Valerie Plame case.
