1984 President Ronald Reagan announces that a schoolteacher will be the first “citizen astronaut” to fly aboard the space shuttle. The eventual choice, Christa McAuliffe, dies in theChallenger disaster in January 1986.
1990 Stevie Ray Vaughan and three members of Eric Clapton‘s entourage are killed when the helicopter they’re traveling in crashes into a man-made ski slope in dense fog in Wisconsin. Vaughan was 35 years old.
1992 Courtney Love files a lawsuit against the British tabloid newspaper The Sun after it alleges that Love’s daughter with Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean Cobain, was born addicted to drugs.

2008 A 27-year-old blogger named Kevin Cogill is arrested at his Los Angeles home by federal agents on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws for leaking nine unreleasedGuns N’ Roses songs online.
