1990 Italy’s famous leaning Tower of Pisa is closed to the public after it’s deemed unsafe because it could possibly topple over. After renovations are done, the Tower reopens to tourists in December 2001.
1994 Singer Liam Gallagher walks offstage during an Oasis concert in Glasgow, Scotland, after losing his voice.
1999 For the second time in history, an impeached American president goes on trial before the Senate. President Bill Clinton is eventually acquitted of perjury and obstruction of justice charges.
2000 Megadeth receives gold album awards in Los Angeles for their eighth studio disc, Risk.
2002 33-year-old drummer Jon Lee of the Welsh band Feeder is found dead in his Miami home, of an apparent suicide.
2003 Coldplay announces plans to donate a tenth of its earnings to charity, according to reports by several British publications.
